“Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays” takes on a whole new meaning this year... BECAUSE IT’S THE ONLY PLACE.

After staring at the same four walls for months on end, I was *more* than ready to bring out the holiday decor. It was hard enough having to wait until November 1st. Because if it were up to me, our tree would have been up in April.

This year, the majority of my decor is from Crate and Barrel. They are my go-to for items that perfectly match the aesthetic of my home while still being festive. This makes it easy to build the case that it’s also winter decor so I can leave it up longer. It’s called thinking ahead.

Let’s start from the outside and make our way in, shall we? On the porch, I wanted to keep it traditional with this Frosted White Berry Wreath. It can work for any season and looks real even though it’s artificial, which is always a plus. Obviously, the ROYGBIV doormat was staying.

To match the white and black exterior of my home, I added these LED Birch Trees and Ora Black Wire Lanterns to our porches and walkways. They look beautiful and chic during the day, and also when lit at night.

Recently, I’ve been retreating to the porch because it’s the one place my kids never think to look. Here I am wrapped in a cozy throw (also from Crate and Barrel), caffeine coursing through my veins, admiring my decor, whilst radiating major David Rose energy.

Time to head inside! Since we’re typically in California visiting family over the holidays, we’ve always had an artificial tree instead of a real one. This might be an unpopular opinion, but artificial trees are better anyway. Who wants to sweep up needles every day? Not to mention the fact that getting the thing into your house and disposing of it is a real schlep.

I get it. There is nothing like the smell of a live Christmas tree...but set this ILLUME ® Balsam and Cedar Reed Diffuser and Birch and Juniper Potpourri nearby and you’ll never know the difference.

One of my favorite finds of the season was this Black Cane Tree Collar. It not only matches the aesthetic of my home, but it also conceals the ugliness of a tree stand.

When it comes to actual tree decor, white lights are the only option. I bring fun and color in with the ornaments. This year, I went with a Schitt’s Creek theme because it’s 2020 and there are no rules anymore.

To bring coziness to every nook of my home, I hung a Pre-Lit Hemlock Pine Wreath near the staircases and lined them with LED ceramic trees. My kids are fully aware that these are not toys, and Santa and the Elf on the Shelf are watching them closely. All is merry and bright on that front so far, but I’ll keep you updated.

Have a happy and safe holiday season, y’all!
